Kamil Damentka – a Polish Vice-Champion in the sprint

Autor: Michał...

Kamil Damentka, a winner of the silver medal of the Polish Championship at the sprint distance, was beaten only by Sylwester Kuster, but the fight for the highest podium level lasted up to the very last meters. The second participant of our program, Kacper Stępniak, also presented his very good side, however he ran out of luck because when he was a leader of the bicycle race he had a flat tire and had to withdraw from further competition.

It is the first medal in the Senior Polish Championship for Kamil Damentka, who in fact is still a junior. As he himself said after the competition, he felt good from start to finish, and the fact that he was at the head of the competition was a bit of surprise for him. Now he has appetite for more because he was so close to a golden medal.

Kacper Stępniak was in a different mood after the competition in Susz. Named among the favorites, he was second to come out of the water, just behind Michał Oliwa, and went on a cycling tour in a three-person group, which had nearly 20 seconds of advantage over the rest of competitors. Unfortunately on the third lap he had flat tire and had to withdraw from the race... And what is even more dramatic, he was in the first position when this happened!

Kamil Damentka and Kacper Stępniak are holders of scholarship from the Sports City Foundation supported as part of the Elemental Tri Team program. The purpose of this program is to search for Olympic talent in triathlon and support their sporting development. The Elemental Tri Team has as a chief coach a bronze Sydney Olympic medalist in triathlon - Jan Rehula, and he is assisted by the best Polish coaches - Cezary Figurski and Piotr Netter.
