Elemental Holding and Triathlon

28/05/2018

European Triathlon Cup and ETO 2018 with the Polish Cup - a triathlon weekend in Olsztyn.

Stormy weather did all it could, however it discouraged neither competitors nor triathlon fans: last weekend, Olsztyn again experienced triathlon: after 8 years, on Saturday, the European Triathlon competition returned to Poland, and on Sunday - for the sixth time – the Elemental Triathlon Olsztyn competition took place, classified in the Polish Cup.

Saturday: European Triathlon Cup.
On Saturday, in the capital of Warmia and Mazury, over 120 competitors from 31 countries took part in the European Triathlon Cup at the sprint distance. The competitors had to face 0.75 km of swimming, 20 km of cycling and 5 km of running, all in spectacular, short loops located in the Sports and Recreation Center on Ukiel Lake. The weather on that day made life really difficult for the European triathletes, who had to deal not only with fatigue and rivals, but also with rain.
Women were first to start, however their start was delayed by a couple of minutes due to unfavorable weather conditions. After a fierce battle at each stage, a Russian Ekaterina Matiukh was a winner, passing the finish line with the time 01:01:36. The second one was a Spanish competitor Marta Sanchez Hernandez (01:02:01), with the third place on the podium achieved by a German representative, Nina Eim (01:02:27). Roksana Słupek - the best of Polish female competitors with the time 01:02:41 – had an excellent 5th place.
After 4:00 PM, the men went on the route, who – no surprise here! – had to compete in the company of rain. The fight against other competitors and the weather was won by Csongor Lehmann from Hungary, who had time 00:54:32, the second was a Swiss Sylvain Fridelance with time 00:54:34, and the third – Gabriel Sandor from Sweden with time 00:54:36. These small differences in the first three times show what great sports level was presented by the competitors. The best of the Poles were Kacper Stępniak, who was 16th, Michał Oliwa – 17th, and Tomasz Marcinek - 18th.

Sunday: Elemental Triathlon Olsztyn 2018

Traditionally, as part of Elemental Tri Series Olsztyn 2018, two accompanying events were held, dedicated to both adults (10K Run Series run as part of the Olsztyn Biega campaign) and children (distances of 200, 500 and 1000 m). The 10 km run competition was won by Bogumił Krupiński, who won with time 00:36:46, and among women, the best result was achieved by Agnieszka Lankowska-Klemt (00:43:03).
